University

Value Achieved

  • Over $4.5 million in targeted funds for a University, which is the leader in the information mapping field, to further develop and produce a prototype geo-spatial tool for the Department of Defense.

Campaign
Carmen Group helped the school develop and execute an innovative event during the Republican National Convention in New York City. "Where Red Meets Blue: Urban Conversations with Republicans" was carefully crafted to contrast substantive conversation with the national backdrop of highly partisan rhetoric. Participants included senators, congressman, issue experts and local officials. Moderators were chosen from among nationally prominent political press.


Historically Black University

Campaign
When Hurricane Katrina devastated the University’s campus, Carmen Group mobilized immediately to provide support wherever possible. We contributed office space for the University’s displaced administrative staff and drove crisis communications to demonstrate viability to students, faculty, alumni and public officials. Carmen Group executed an innovative strategy to deliver funds through emergency legislation which amended a Department of Education loan program to provide substantial relief with reduced interest rates and escrow requirement, with no repayment due for three years. Carmen Group also donated office space to the Bush-Clinton Katrina fund.

 

K-12 Linkages

Campaign
Carmen Group helped two universities focus programs linking regional school systems by advocating for federal funding to operate these programs. The funding allowed the school to dramatically increase service while also leveraging private funding. Both universities also had other federal funds in FY 2003.


Science Learning Centers

Value Achieved

  • Completed federal funding contribution for multi-million dollar project

Campaign
Carmen Group helped secure federal funding for the first science learning project to be created in conjunction with a major children's health care initiative and children's hospital.


School of Pharmacy

Value Achieved

  • Funding for critical equipment and facilities in order to expand one of the nation's most prestigious schools of pharmacy to meet the nationally documented shortage of pharmacists across the nation.

Campaign
Carmen Group engaged and advocated before the state Congressional delegation, governor, local mayor, city council, area chamber of commerce and non-profit community leaders devoted to achieving better healthcare in the region.
