Intern Testimony

“I enjoyed my internship at Carmen Group so much that I came back for seconds! Initially my plans were to intern until May, but after working with such an experienced staff and assisting on such interesting projects, I extended my internship until August. I consider myself very fortunate to have worked in such a great environment and to have learned the trade from the best people in the business.”

Kenya Brown
Spring and Summer 2001

“My internship experience at Carmen Group this semester has provided me with immeasurable opportunities to immerse myself in the interesting and challenging aspects of the firm’s international trade practice. My intimate involvement in formulating proposals and conducting intensive research has given me the analytical tools and hands on experience necessary to flourish in the private sector. Carmen Group provides a unique environment that connects interns with the day to day running of a busy and successful Washington lobbying firm. However, the most rewarding component of my experience: has been the building of personal connections and friendships that will reap immeasurable on my future career.”

Mark Simakovsky
Spring 2004

"I learned about brand equity, market segmentation, prospect identification and contact, advertising and project management. Not bad, especially considering that I'm about to graduate and market a fairly important product -- me!

Shelby Clapp
Spring 2004

“During my internship with Carmen Group, I was able to work on a variety of challenging projects including a Caspian Sea Oil Pipeline analysis which was included in a CODEL. Also, I performed interesting research assignments and I was able to interact with and have my input taken seriously by my supervisors.”

Andrew Hausman
Fall 1999

“In addition to all of the incredible projects I was able to work on during my internship, I also really enjoyed the social activities that the firm held for the interns. Our coordinators scheduled lots of fun activities enabling us to get out and experience the city as well as get to know the other interns and employees better. My personal favorites were the softball league and the time they took us out to dinner at a Moroccan restaurant and where we got to eat with our hands!”

Sarah McDermond
Fall 2001

As a legal intern at Carmen Group, I was able to expand my knowledge on many legal topics that I only learned about in law school. The internship was also a great opportunity to sharpen and enhance my research and writing skills. As the intern for Carmen Group’s General Counsel, I was able to learn about the complexity and variety of legal issues that a corporation may encounter.

The people at Carmen Group are friendly and create a very comfortable environment for all their interns. The work that is assigned is relevant and the interns play a vital role in the company, instead of just being handed frivolous busy work. My time as a Carmen Group legal intern was an invaluable experience.
