Exciting Client News: ER One and Microsoft

MedStar Health/Washington Hospital Center's Project ER One, a federally sponsored effort to design the national prototype all-risks ready emergency care facility, has pioneered medical informatics as part of delivering the model for next generation emergency care. Creating and enhancing systems that deliver information from all sources to the point of care is an integral part of the vision.

Microsoft has entered into a long-term strategic alliance with MedStar and is purchasing clinical health software Azyxxi. This represents a major strategic change for Microsoft as they move beyond supplying operating tools into their first vertical industry solution.

Azyxxi (ah-zik-see), the electronic medical record and health information system inside of Washington Hospital Center and ER One, quickly retrieves and displays information from sources including scanned documents, E.K.G.'s, X-rays, M.R.I. scans, PET scans, angiograms and ultrasound images. It has successfully empowered physicians with instant access to critical patient information in emergency situations.
