Gerald P. Carmen

Ambassador Carmen works with international leaders and business executives, promotes joint ventures between U.S. and overseas companies, develops strategic business plans for financial and corporate entities, and assists them through implementation.

From 1984-86, Ambassador Carmen served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva and was vice chairman of the Trade and Development Board, which reviewed activities of the United Nations Conference on Trade Development. Earlier, during the Reagan Administration, he was administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration. He also served as chairman of President Reagan's grassroots lobbying organization, Citizens for America; was a member of the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston; and was President/CEO of the Federal Asset Disposition Association (predecessor to the Resolution Trust Corporation).

Active in New Hampshire politics for over 25 years, Ambassador Carmen was chairman of the state’s Republican Party for three consecutive terms and for eight years was its Republican National Committeeman. In 1988-89, he was a member of the Bush presidential transition team. A successful businessman, he was also the first chairman of the New Hampshire Housing Authority.
